What is Thai Yoga Massage?
Thai Yoga Massage (TYM) is an ancient healing art that combines the alignment of the breath, yoga asana, and mindfulness meditation of Metta (loving compassion) into a flowing dance of continuous rhythmic motion to deliver a soothing and revitalizing experience. TYM is based on an understanding of the energy lines and acupressure points present in each person. By working along these lines and points, the modality balances the energetic body of the recipient and frees & removes any blockages that may present in physical, mental, or emotional dis-ease.
A Thai Massage session results in restoring a healthy, balanced energetic flow to the recipient. A session can be complete on its own and may also be incorporated into other modalities of massage, yoga, or personal training.
Details of the Training
This 30 hour, 4 day training will offer another full sequence of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage, expanding on the 'Foundations of Thai Yoga Massage Certification Level I.' In addition to covering content that will enable you to give up to a 2.5 hour massage, there will be more focus on body mechanics, breath work, side-lying positions, advanced transitions, and working with different body types and 'challenges.'
Please note that this is a hands-on experiential training! If you are coming in-person, you will both give and receive the sequence. And, you will have the bonus to receive hands-on techniques from Jennifer!
If you are planning to take the course online, you will be required to have a person to work on during the 4-day training. For some instances, we will work on pillows and props to learn the body mechanics and techniques. However, you will need an actual body present for 2 hours in the morning session and 2 hours in the afternoon session. (The practicum times will confirmed before the start of the training so you can make arrangements.) Also, if you are taking the course online, you will be required to have access to Zoom and a camera so you can be engaged and on-screen for direct feedback. Please note this is not pre-recorded but a live training and hence your full participation online will be required.
A certification of the 'Foundations of Thai Massage' will be awarded upon completion of attending and fully participating in the workshop and post practicum hours. One must have attended the Level 1 training to apply for the Level 2 training as it is an extension of the sequence. If you are already practicing Thai Massage or have studied with a different school, message Jennifer directly to dialogue which training would be best for you.
Schedule & practicum:
Training hours run daily 8:30am-4:30pm EST with an hour lunch break.
(*subject to change to 9:30am-5:30pm EST per group needs)
There will be an additional 1.5 hours during the training to review your notes and material each night.
For online trainees, you are asked to practice at least 10 hours of the practicum to solidify the sequence. If you wish you can practice 5 hours and then record yourself for me to review. We will then arrange a complimentary follow up call on Zoom or Whatsapp for personal feedback.
